Determine the wind direction and speed. Select a reference point with an emergency landing area within gliding distance. Plan the maneuver to enter at 600 to 1,000 feet AGL at an appropriate distance from the reference point, with the airplane headed downwind and the first turn to the left. Apply wind drift correction to maintain a constant radius circle around the ground reference point with a angle of bank of approximately 45 at the steepest point. Maintain coordinated flight while dividing your attention between airplane control and the ground track. Maintain constant airspeed and altitude for two complete turns and exit at the entry point.
